Brothers I wanted to take a moment and formally invite you to the Texas Indian Hobbyist Association (TIHA) spring dance held March 29 in Burnet, Texas. At this dance, our focus will be on our youth (junior) members and we will be hosting a special Singing Contest during the dance on Saturday night.
TIHA was founded over fifty years ago by a group of people who wanted to continue what they had started as members of the OA. Since it's inception, the organization as grown to hundreds of members all across the United States. One of the primary goals of the organization is to provide a family atmosphere where we can come together to fellowship and dance. We host four dances a year (January, March, June, and September) with the June dance being a three-day event. Our dances are held in Burnet, Texas, at the Galloway-Hammond Recreation Center and is an indoor venue.
We would like to extend an invitation to the members of your lodge to attend our upcoming dance. For your members who may be dancing at Conclave in either April (SR3) or July (SR2), this would be a great opportunity for them dance in a powwow setting. For those lodges who have a drum team, we are hosting a special singing contest. A flyer for the dance and the singing contest rules are attached to this email. Please feel free to distribute it to others you think would be interested in this event.
The Grand Entry is at 7:30 pm with a covered dish supper served at 5:00. We will be having two craft sessions during the afternoon as well. There is camping available, along with local hotel rooms.
We hope to see you at the dance in March or at one of our other dances. Please contact myself or any of the individuals listed on the flyer for additional information.
